Analyst

About the Role

As an analyst at Complexas, you will be part of a small, dynamic team. You will be responsible for understanding, analysing, and providing insights on uncertainties and risks pertaining to our Client's project in South Africa. The team is remote, and most of the role will not require you to be on the ground; however, there will be occasional requirements to travel to areas that require enhanced security precautions.  

 

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Conducting open-source and social media research on individuals and groups which pose a threat to the Client’s operations, assets, and personnel. 

  • Mapping out and understanding connections between individuals and groups.  

  • Forming threat assessments. 

  • Proactively identifying information requirements.

  • Monitoring and analysing political risks to identify and assess threats to the Client’s operations, assets, and personnel.   

  • Delivering clear and concise written briefings and presentations to the Client.  

  • Maintaining and building out our intelligence databases. 

  • Communicating effectively with the team to support and enhance the quality of final deliverables. 

  • Helping grow existing intelligence analysis capabilities and processes within the team.  

  • Contributing to analysis and thought leadership relevant to current events in the Sub-Saharan African region.​

About You

You will succeed in this role if you have the following skills and experience:

Essential

  • Excellent research, analytical, writing, and presentation skills.  

  • Ability to proactively identify and solve complex problems and carry out responsibilities with minimal supervision.   

  • Ability to accurately draw conclusions by synthesising raw data and information from multiple, unrelated sources.

  • Willingness to learn and work on a range of issues and use a variety of data collection and analysis tools. 

  • Comfortable operating effectively and with resilience in ambiguous or challenging environments. 

  • Keen to contribute to the generation of new and innovative sources of information, both human and technical, in support of objectives. 

  • Excited to work as a team and communicate with a variety of stakeholders. 

  • Strong technical skills in using Microsoft Office suite of products (Word, PowerPoint, Teams, Excel). 

  • Full professional proficiency in English, including the ability to write clearly, concisely, and authoritatively. 

  • Right to work in the UK. 

Desirable

  • Practical knowledge of open-source intelligence collection and threat analysis.

  • Keen understanding of social media monitoring techniques. 

  • Experience using open-source intelligence and forensics software.

  • Experience using business intelligence software.

  • Foreign language skills. 

Salary, Benefits, and Location

This is a full-time role. Our team is remote,  but we expect teammates to attend regular in-person team meetings. Medium-term, we might open a physical office.

Compensation will be decided on a case-by-case basis, depending on experience. However, we aim to pay competitively.
